I wonder if the powers that be placed “Mother’s Day” in May because of that"" "Mother May I" game?

Even in ancient times, the Greeks celebrated the Anatolian Earth Goddess Cybele who usually arrived on the scene in a chariot driven by lions spitting fire. Ancient times aside, mothers gathering to honor one another and share in their grief over lost loved ones began after the Civil War.
The idea spread during World War I,when soldiers in France significantly hampered the country’s postal system sending thousands of cards to moms back home, all postmarked to arrive before the second Sunday in May. Of course, once Hallmark gets ahold of something, get out the tissues.
Or, get out your water bottle and sweat towel.
