My first summer job was transcribing medical records at the University of Washington Medical Center. I was almost 16, knew how to type, and spent my summer days in a lab decorated with flasks and jars filled with human body parts. Not cool.
Here’s a better idea for a job: Lifeguard. You’ll have several chances to train with the American Red Cross, right here at Almaden Valley Athletic Club. You must be 15 years old by April 1, 2012. There are other prerequisites, but compared to the ability to learn how to save a life (and spend the summer in the sun) very achievable. We have three sessions. One starts this weekend but two more are offered. Find out more.
If internship (unpaid) is your forte, then check this one out. “The Best Internship on Earth” offered by the Sierra Club. Hurry. Deadline for application is April 1.
