In my former life at a large San Francisco ad agency, I worked on the California Milk Advisory Board and consistently had to buck the bad press dairy products were getting. Cheese was considered a way to step into an early grave. Milk? Well, I was against the hormones, but that’s another story. As for eggs, they got the worst of the bad publicity.
Now, in what’s become a familiar action, eggs are back on the ‘good list’ thanks to WebMD. (I still need to check to see if WebMD is subject to lobbying from the CMAB and Wisconsin Cheese heads.) However, I had checked with other physicians over the years, primarily because of my love of egg salad sandwiches. By love, I mean obsession.
There are qualifying factors. The most important is that to eat an egg every morning is perfectly all right. Why? Because it contains a high amount of protein, which takes longer to digest.
The longer digestion process means that tummy of yours is kept busy doing its thing longer. And you won’t be as hungry.
So, get exactly what you need. Eat an egg. Whether it comes from a chicken whose little clawed feet have never touched any but the softest of grasses on an open range is another matter.
We are into chocolate and other good things here at Almaden Valley Athletic Club. In fact, the fact that we always feel better after coming here is why most memberships are kept.
